Combustion

Increasing the efficiency of combustion processes is one of the greatest challenges for the future due to the limited fossil fuel ressources and their environmental impact. In this context detailed laser diagnostics of combustion processes is of great importance for future technical developments. LaVision is world leader in offering state-of-the-art intelligent laser imaging systems for combustion diagnostics and related processes.

The realization of efficient and optimal combustion systems requires in-situ measurements and detailed understanding of complex gas dynamical processes. Laser imaging techniques such as Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF), Laser Induced Incandescence (LII), Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Raman-, Rayleigh- and Mie-Scattering as well as Emission and Absorption Spectroscopy are well suited for this purpose allowing multi-parameter measurements with high spatial and temporal resolution in technical combustion systems.

Keyhole optical combustion diagnostics is realized using LaVision’s endoscopes for imaging or fiber optical sensor systems integrated in e.g. customized optical probes of small size.

Measured combustion parameters are liquid and vapor fuel, flame species and soot concentration, temperature, gas composition and multi-phase flow fields.
