LaVision looks back on an interesting PIV course at the German Aerospace Center (DLR)

Tuesday, 4. April 2023

This year's course could finally be held again in the presence of the participants.

The PIV course at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Göttingen ended with eventful days! As always, the focus was on sharing knowledge with leading scientists and teaching the correct use of PIV measurement technology.

But this year’s most fascinating test: the flow measurements on the free-flying quadcopter in the context of the DLR project 'Urban Rescue'. The combined operation of HFSB (helium-filled soap bubbles), LED illumination and high-speed cameras resulted in a measurement volume of 2m³ with about 250,000 simultaneously tracked particles by Shake-the-Box. These results are impressive!
