Visualizing your flow with our system is as simple as recording a movie: point the flow inspection camera through the flow onto the provided background pattern to reveal flow structure and speed that are not visible by eye.
These extremely versatile systems can be used in a wide range of applications from small scale leak detection, through car interior ventilation, to full room flow behaviour in cleanrooms or for HVAC testing. Because the approach has zero contaminants it is safe to use in all environments and works residue-free.
System setup is fast and straightforward and can be deployed at short notice and supports on-line process control applications.
The iso-thermal flow in front of a background is seeded with an optically active tracer gas. The tracer gas is an inert, non-toxic gas mixture featuring the same flow properties like the invisible process gas. With the addition of oxygen the tracer gas is as safe as air. This tracer gas seeding leaves the probe volume residue-free after testing, a big advantage compared with conventional smoke or mist seeding used for flow monitoring in cleanrooms.
The applied background imaging works through transparent windows and in all kind of flow boxes. With the right choice of illumination site preparations around the flow are not necessary as long as a background is provided. The simple imaging setup supports fast flow inspection with real-time result presentation
Our Flow inspex systems for thermal flow visualization image heat flows without any seeding at all. The applied background imaging technique is very sensitive to temperature changes within the flow. Small and large temperature changes are visible within the extended dynamic range of the system.
Flexible flow (motion) imaging and simple system setup
Flow imaging works on almost any scale from small to large size, defining your desired spatial resolution. Not only the flow structure but also the motion is quantitatively captured by the camera. High-speed cameras record even faster flows in slow-motion video. LaVision’s intelligent algorithms derive speed maps from these videos enabling heat flux measurements. At-site system setup is fast and easy due to the simple system layout: as long as a background pattern can be placed behind the flow, it is only required to point the camera at the investigated region.
