Measurement of flame-geometry in furnace and burner applications with LaVision’s High Temperature Camera Endoscopes

Monday, 20. March 2023

How do flames spread in a high-temperature furnace?

Until now, it was almost impossible to adequately distinguish the flames from the surrounding air in such a hot environment. We have developed a High Temperature Camera Endoscope to perform measurements and observations of visible (VIS) and ultraviolet (UV) emissions in environments of up to 2000 °C. A cooling/purging system effectively protects the endoscopes from heat and dust.

The aim of these measurements is, among other things, to optimize the flame geometry in furnaces and large-scale burner applications, for example, for the sustainable injection of combustibles.

Due to the individualized endoscopes, observations are possible in almost all measurement objects that are difficult to access, such as these high-temperature furnaces, combustion engines or gas turbines.
