Techniques

Optical measurement techniques are non-intrusive in nature and provide high resolution measurements in space and time with remote detection capabilities. Laser imaging measures in-situ a large number of flow variables such as density, temperature, species (particle) concentration and velocity. Short laser pulses freeze the motion of the flow, and high-speed imaging allows time-resolved measurements. Tomographic imaging techniques like Tomo-PIV and Tomo-LIF make 3-dimensional imaging possible.
